Summoning - "Let Mortal Heroes Sing Your Fame"
Napalm records 2001

I could hardly wait for Summoning's new release. Unfortunatelly "Let Mortal Heroes Sing Your Fame" did not fulfill my expectations.

Summoning have kept their typical sound and they still sing about topics from Tolkien's Lord of the Rings. It's obvious that Silenius and Protector still get inspiration from this book. But after five released albums with the same topic... releasing anotherone seems just unbelievably boring. Don't get me wrong; I'm a big fan of Lord of the Rings but that is too much even for me to take.

Anyway, "Let Mortal Heroes Sing Your Fame" is musically incomparable with their previous releases, especially "Minas Morgul" which is my favourite. Still, "Let Mortal Heroes Sing Your Fame" is a quite good release. I just doubt I'm gonna listen to it much. I have to say I'm surprised it got such good reviews.

Booklet looks great, though. The band did a great job on it. All the pictures were done by Mark Harrison and they are just fantastic. You can find more of his work at http://www.fsartists.com.
