Obnounce (Ljubljana - Orto - 20.11.01)

There were only two bands performing that night: Magus Noctum from Ljubljana and Obnounce from Ljutomer. The little concert hall (if I can even call it that) in Orto bar was already full by the time Magus Noctum came on stage.

I already heard them play live in K4 so I knew what to expect. Magus Noctum are a young morbid Black Metal band so the guys are still quite inexperienced, with exception of the guitarist (he used to play in Noctiferia, a black metal band from Ljubljana and he is also involved in a project called Perun). Their songs sound kind of unpolished - there are some parts in different songs where keyboards or drums just don't fit in the whole concept of a certain song. For instance: they have this really good song (I don't remember the title) but they ruined it completely with a faster part which doesn't fit in there - at all! Nevertheless, I think that given time they could evolve in a good Black Metal band.

The next (and at the same time the last) band was a Black/Death Metal band from Ljutomer, Obnounce. I heard them for the first time that night but I have to say they surprised me (a lot!). Even the crowd seemed to get livelier. They played mostly their own songs which sounded unbelievably good for a Slovenian band. They play fast but melodic Black/Death. Their last song was a special surprise: they invited a female vocalist with a beautiful trained voice to join them. That song was just amazing. I hope that from now on they will use female vocals more often.
